aquired a d5200 best settings ?

I set my own aperture (camera chooses shutter speed) so you can control depth of field. It's a good way to ease into manual operation.

For a cheap macro with good results, buy a cheap /used prime lens and a reverse ring mount. You can attach the lens backwards and focus by moving the camera back and forth - can set up a slide for extreme close up.

First off I have not owned a D5200 but I have a D90 and a D7000 . but should be similar .

I would play around with Program AE for a start - just shoot anything that takes your fancy - experiment and get the feel of it . Then play with the other settings one at a time and see what they do .

Get D5200 for dummies ( yes a book) it will teach you more and quicker than I ever could !

As for Macro lenses

I have had Nikons 85mm macro ( avoid it , it is not sharp) I use a AF-sMicro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8G ED .and I have the 40mm one very good in available light but with a flash it focuses too close to the subject and is hard to illuminate .

AF-sMicro Nikkor 60mm 1:2.8G ED is what I would recommend

If your wanting a cheap macro option and dont wanna buy a new lens there is also the option of getting some cheap kenko extension tubes. These wont degrade your image quality at all but will allow standard lenses to focus much closer.

As for best settings... Well there is none. Depends on your situation :P unless you mean which mode? In that case manual is best but until you get a hang of it other settings such as aperture priority as aquaholic99 suggested is a good place to start.

If u have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm

For a cheap as lens that will still give u plenty of control and good wuality images check out some 50mm 1.8 primes.

Sigma and tamron r also releasing some pretty amazing stuff recently and u wont have to pay for the nikon brand.
