louandjames
Hi everyone, Would greatly appreciate your help to identify this fish. We bought it from a man with a strong accent and he said it was something like a bougipy boopy! He tells me it is fine to have this fish in with our gouramis (gold, blue, opaline), silver sharks, tertras and clown loaches. I'm starting to panic because I've decided it looks a bit like a cichlid. And even I know those aren't meant to go in a tank with these other fish! Any advice would be really appreciated, do not want to wake up to any casualties tomorrow Cheers

lgw
I should add that it is a cichlid, I believe it will be trial and error. As with all cichlids (or just fish in general), you get some that are aggressive. Rams are generally peaceful, especially if it's the only one of its species in the tank. louandjames
Aha! He may have been saying "butterfly ram"? I looked at pictures of them online and it definitely looks like him. Thanks so much guys. I will leave him in overnight and see how he goes. From reading online it seems they can be a great community fish. Cheers!
