I had one do the same, honestly recalibrate just moves the red dial and like donny said that's alot out. Not sure you will recalibrate, worth a try. If it doesn't work and you want to keep the heater you can just set the temp and allow for the difference

i don't use the temp guage on my jagers, or any of my heaters. I use a small digital thermometer that has been temp tested so i know it's accurate.

In big temps i typically have 2 digital thermometers to keep eachother honest

Yes 12 months.

There are a number of thermometers that have an alarm system so if the temp goes over a certain limit or under a certain limit the alarm goes off. So if you do not trust your heater and you have a few $$$ in fish than the alarm might be something very worth while - think off hand most of them are under $60 or so - have had a few people save their fish with the alarm.
