Bear
I am starting my first reef tank soon. I was told i could use texas holy rock that i have left over from my africans as a base rock. Is this correct or should i scrap the idea? Thanks
liquidg
Very nice gear mate, it’s lime based for assistance with PH and is porus, that says win-win with marines. Just give it a good wash out in fresh salt water or RO water and its all good.

Donny@ageofaquariums
If you have ro and can give it a soak..... then test ro for phosphates you can be sure it wont leach them. African tanks often have crazy high phosphates lol. It isnt very porous compared to most types of 'base rock' but it is very strong. So works well at the base of your aquascape. Can be a good way to setup prime cave territory for bottom dwelling fishys. Just try to have min % in contact with substrate is my strategy to prevent debris build up.
