pony-tail
Does anybody know if their is an issue with Val ( spiral) and medium high light and CO2 ? I planted val in 2 of my tanks to hide the filter uplift in one - lowish light , no CO2 it is growing well ( but not particularly fast ) and to the top of the waterline - the other is a planted tank with co2 and 2 fluval leds , fertilized with basic grow and daily grow - the growth is way different the leaves are thicker and stiffer and a bit brittle in the co2 tank and only seem to want to grow 6 inches high - they even shed almost all of their old leaves . Other plants in the tank are " pink babies tears" unknown actual species bought off fleabay - hair grass , some glosso ( a weed that has resurfaced in recycled EcoComplete - too expensive not to reuse ) and one chain sword ( also a weed ) all growing well ! I would have assumed the val would have grown better in the CO2 tank - I also would have been very wrong .

ORANGEMELLY
I dont know much about plants yet as only set up first planted tank not that long ago. But I am however somewhat pleased that your val is growing better in the "low tech" conditions as I am wanting to grow the same plant in my next tank which is a 30 tall. I use ghetto DIY lighting - desk lamps with 6500k led bulbs in my current planted and plants are doing fine - they are however just your basic beginner low light plants:wisteria, java fern, java moss, penny wort, elodea and duckweed. I was intending to use same with the val in the 30 tall..gives me hope that it might just work.....
