Using salt to speed fry growth.

Recommended Posts

Salt bath all my large native fry/fingerlings @10ppt for 30 minutes every second day. Awaits reply from the serial salt knockers.

Any difference in growth with/without salt out of interest?

Never tried without salt' date=' they don't grow if they die.[/quote']

That's 0.1% salt if I'm doing the conversion right?

I guess kind of wondering what benefits you see using the salt? Are the fish from areas high in TDS or something. Just wondering, salt use has never really bothered me either way.

4000 fingerlings in 4 troughs on a 10 tonne RAS. Start on zooplankton finish on prepared food. Parasites come with the zooplankton, salt kills them. Feeding 2kg of food a day = bad bacteria, salt kills it. Isolate trough, bath, dump, restart recirc. The metabolic boost from the salt is a bonus.
