Just finished doing a 50% water change on my tank, where I also scooped out half the amount of gravel, but still left enough to cover the bottom. At the end after filling back up I noticed a heap of little bugs on the glass where the water is filled to. Did some research and all I could come up with was that they were Springtails (bugs) it's like I had disturbed a nest they had going beneath the gravel and now they are hanging around the top of my tank looking to get out. Sorry no pics as they are quite small even with my 27. Something mega pixel under water Sony Experia phone. I could only find one post about this back last year and there was no real resolve to the issue.
