TheAquaHolic001
Either he's sick or guarding something idk I'm confused he went from a real light colour to what he is now, he no longer runs away from the rams who hate gudgeons I'm confused, he is also really aggressive. sorry for the bad photo once again
Rod
What sort of gudgeon is it? Is there others in the tank? What's the white on side of the filter? Could be eggs that have gone fungused? Just for your information Your substrate isn't the best in my opinion Being quite large stones there is great potential for food to be trapped between stones and go septic a finer gravel(1mm) doesn't allow this to happen....fine sand doesn't work for plants as it tends to pack too hard, but it is preferred by rams who sift sand for food Edited October 13, 2015 by Rod
none
As Rod mentioned above it does look like (although your photo is terrible!) the male Gudgeon may be guarding dead eggs on the filter. If it is a Firetail or similar 'dwarf' then that is possible. At first when I struggled to see the fish I thought firetail but the more I look at it the more the fins look Empire. If Empire it's way too small to breed. You've got to take better photos if you want answers re: disease.
TheAquaHolic001
White on the side of pump is just the id tag and stuff for it warranty, it is a firetail gudgeon, all is good now to found out it was on eggs but the rams decided that won't happen and ate them all. Also I do have gravel in the tank it is just I have rocks on top because the canister I have running is so powerful it kicks it all up. Food can still get trapped yes but I have 8 Cory's for that. My main question was why has it gone black and why?

I'll take a photo with my camera if you want, photo is terrible because it's on my ipod that only has a camera facing towards the thing you are photographing

TheAquaHolic001
Because it had heightened breeding / defensive colours Cheers! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to lose a small fortune worth of fish to a 5 cent feeder fish I decided to keep +10 others, 😅
