smicko
Yes I went there, after all the fun of the last discussion I figure it's time again. Can I use nitra guard in an internal filter and how does it go with a chemi pure friend? I'm using nitrate, nitrite, ammonia and phosphate removal pads in conjunction with chemi pure and my nitrates are still around 10ppm nitrate and 1ppm phosphate. I have a fairly heavily stocked and fed reef tank using Berlin method. I have cut done from 30% twice weekly waterchanges to once weekly and want to have nitrate and phosphate down close to zero. Rumour has it that borntobreed uses it and Donny@ageofaquariums is an advocate, so sell it to me peeps. Also interested in opposition opinion. Cheers mick @borntowatchporn does use it and because its you asking smickonoguppies I'm sure he wont respond to your query! If you can get hold of Edwin at Downstream Aquatics he is a guru on marine tanks.

Jase86uxb
I use it smicko I run it in my sump with a air stone I the middle of it... In conjunction with my gfo reactor it has made the time between water changes well worth the investment ....
Cam07
What's it do?
smicko
Thanks Jase86uxb, my issue is no sump or reactors as yet. I have another sumped tank that I have been considering turning back into marine but it's been taken over by my L397. Cam07 it's a type of nitrate and phosphate removal media, mainly used in marine but works in fresh as well. Wogboy
Yeah I have used it, prefer Bioplastics but it's good too, turns nitrates into mulm.
Cam07
So it absorbs it and you clean or throw it out when full?
mq_camo
I filled a tray of a fx cannister with it, it's magic stuff.
smicko
I'm pretty sure it breaks down but someone who has used it could confirm. Cheers mick
Wogboy
It provides a carbon source for denitrifying bacteria which love nitrate, similar to vodka dosing or bioplastics but without the need for a reactor. If done correctly can reduce the need for water changes but at a cost, not overly expensive but water changes are cheaper. More expensive than Bioplastics but less initial outlay as there is no need for a reactor. Edited October 19, 2015 by Wogboy
