TheAquaHolic001
Anyone got any methods to get blue rams to spawn. I have a pair that just have no interest in spawning.
Jase86uxb
Try putting butter on bread ??? Is it not just that easy???
Heintz.G
Try some mood lighting and Barry White tunes and if that fails I find doing a water change just before a storm can get them in the mood

Rod
Spawning them is easy....but you need to be ready to raise the fry Get a micro worm culture, try hatching some brine shrimp When you've mastered that...then you are ready to spawn your Rams They need, soft (rain/RO)water, warm water, live food(black worms) If you are going to make the effort to spawn and raise Rams It takes no more effort to raise good ones as it does poor ones It pays to start with quality fish.... TheAquaHolic001
So I'm going to do a storm dance, 30% water change with the water I summoned, then feed them BBS I grew. Then babies! Sound good?
thatsright99
Are you sure they're male and female? Feed them up with live foods ( mozzie larva does wonders, feed more then they can eat- blk worms too - this helps them think theres an abundance of food and that its a good safe time to breed) and frozen as well as normal good quality flake/pellets/bits. PH 6.8 and blkwater stuff does wonders. Warm water, 28-29 is good for awhile then when it rains, or if you have rainwater saved, do a water change with the colder water and bang. thatsright99
Also how long have they been in the tank for and what else is in with them?
TheAquaHolic001
Also how long have they been in the tank for and what else is in with them? 3 weeks, definite male and female as one has pink belly e.t.c. Tank mates are neon tetras, Cory's, gudgeons, BN.
thatsright99
If you get a small terracotta pot and lay it on its side in a cnr of the tank and a flat round stone in front of it and another flat stone nearby it'll help them with a breeding location. If they already have a spot they seem to favour, stick it in there. Keep an eye on the gudgeons as they can be a pain in the rrrs and harass like you wouldn't believe esp if they r thinking of breeding themselves...or even males just doing the territory thing ( although they can be peaceful too, it depends) when they lay, the bn will eat the eggs potentially/ probably. If the fish are happy the neons should be all over the place. If there's a stress factor they'll be more tightly schooled. I'd get rid of the gudgeons and put in rummynose and use them as a gauge of water conditions ect. And when they breed expect them to have 2-3 go's at getting right. You could also add a second female...

The rams also like a spot in between 2 plants so I'll put a terracotta plant in there. BN are breeding themselves so they stick to that. Cheers!
