Lofties
Hi All, I have a 4ft tank with an old Jabao external filter which runs a bit rough, even stops for 5 seconds sometimes and then restarts! I'm thinking an fx5 would be good, or is it a bit too much? Any thoughts? Cheers.
yellows
What size 4 ft, what fish you putting in it, how often do you feed them I'd say a fx5 would be ok
Nini
I was under the impression that there was no such thing as a filter being "too much", as long as the flow isn't too hard/fast for the fish (don't blast them across the tank without their consent). ex0h
Not at all.. I had an FX5 on my 6x2x2 and still had to use a wave maker to get things moving around. The Fluval FX5/6 are awesome filters. Would recommend for 4ft+ tanks any day of the week.
Wogboy
Waste of money though, what size 4 foot, an fx5 is overkill for anything but a 4x2x2, if you are thinking of upgrading go for it though. A 406, is more than enough for a 4x18x18
none
I run one on a 36 x 18 x 18 marine tank and it's brilliant. Have run them on 48 x 18 x 18's too. No worries.
trk18
Over rather than under if you can ! Fx5 x 4ft = clean & mostly problem free
Lofties
No worries guys, thanks for your input. It's 4x2x2 and usually only has a few striped dollars and some clown loaches. It's mainly used as a spare tank to grow out peacock bass. I'll add an fx5 for sure.
