Bek
Ok, yes I'm back!! So I was away for the weekend, got home Monday morning, turned on the light for the shrimp tank (cherry shrimp and 2 peppermint bristlenose) AND holy crap, I couldn't see into it!!! Lifted the lid and one of the peps had perished. He could have been there since Friday. So I googled what to do, not a lot of info, but I've been changing out at least 30 % of the water every day, I've taken out the filter sponge and given it a good clean (in Prime treated water) I got the gravel siphon in there and sucked the muck off the bottom, took out all the plants and give them a bleach wash then a good soak in Prime water before putting them back in.... Is there anything else I should do??? Because now my little shrimp colony is dying off :-( I reckon I've lost over half of them now! I think the water is starting to look clearer today and today I probably changed out about 50% of the water after siphoning the muck off the bottom. The sand substrate stinks too, should I maybe change that?? I am learning on the fly here!!! Any advice at all is going to be ridiculously appreciated!!!!!!!! Bek
Thanks heaps for that Rod! I will try and source some :-) Glad to know I was on the right path!!! Stupid ex told me I had to change the water every 2 hours, but that didn't sound right, sounded like it would stress the poor buggers out more! Google said daily so daily I will do :-) And since I cleaned up the plants and sand this morning I haven't lost another shrimp, the seem happier now!
