Pineapples
Hi I've got 3 tanks now and they all seem to be going great ph 6.6 28 deg no ammonia or nitrite and nitrates around 10 most of the time I do weekly water changes that's about it. I use tap water that I leave in a bottle in the sun for a few days before putting it in the tank. No other chemicals. So my question is my smallest 20L tank(vase) containing red cherry shrimp and a group of mosquito rasboras has a TDS reading of 670 when the other 120L tanks are 240 is this a dangerous level? Shrimp seem healthy and are breeding. Only issue is a slight algae growth but they love it. Water changes don't seem to bring the TDS down and I don't want to do a full clean as I have Copepods, daphnia etc and all sorts of critters in the tank that the shrimp seem to like. I want to keep on the no chemical path if possible but any advise would be greatly appreciated as I've only been keeping shrimp fish for about 4-5 months. jc12
What is the TDS of the tap water? If TDS of the tap water is relatively low then I suspect something is leeching within the tank to have a TDS of 670. Fish/shrimp food will also raise TDS over time but it should not be significant assuming you are not grossly overfeeding. Pineapples
Tap water TDS is 150. I have a small piece of driftwood and a fair few plants mosses but that's it. I only have a small filter but it's a small tank any bigger creates too much turbulence have an air powered sponge filter in there also. I feed them frozen spinach most days I'm going to starve them for a few days to see if they can work on the algae instead. jc12
Do you have any substrate? If yes, what type of substrate? Also, do you have any hard scape like rocks or decorations?
Pineapples
The substrate is the small round one specifically for shrimp pictured here. Only a couple of ceramic ornaments and the driftwood in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
