sunnyQLD
Hiya everyone, just wondering if anyone can tell me how to sex Bristlenose, I've got conflicting info from the net and LFS. I'm sorry if there's a post about this already, I haven't gone thru all of them to look.
jonnoob
Good rule of thumb is the more bristles on the nose, the more chance of being male. They're paternal cave breeders, so if its looking after the eggs its almost guaranteed a male
yellows
Usually Males have bristles all over the snout and up towards the eyes and the Females will only have them around the front of the snout not up towards the eyes if that makes sense. Also another method I've found fairly accurate is the Males snout will feel squishy and the females solid well works when sexing Peppermints
sunnyQLD
Thanks guys - that helps a lot. Initially I was informed that females have no bristles whatsoever, then research was saying yes to some bristles as you both have said but the guy I asked was adamant females have no bristles, I'm glad to finally have a straight answer
