Our first meeting for the year will be on Friday February 12th, with talks from the always entertaining Adrian Dawson and a series of fishroom tours from a few of our members.

As always the shop will be open and we'll have our auction at the end of the meeting.

Our first field trip of the year will be a look around some of Redlands' creeks followed by a visit to the Indigiscapes Centre and a look at the Rhad breeding facilities. If you're interested you will need to be a current member to attend. There'll be more details at the meeting or you can contact Karl Moy (karl.gmoy@hotmail.com, 0437777380).

Peter Unmack is coming along to give us a talk about ANGFA's Running River Rainbowfish project. There's been a lot of work looking at the genetics of these fish in the wild and in members' collections. A number of members and commercial operators are captive breeding these fish as it looks like they're a separate species and they could be in trouble in the wild... In a second talk George Brand will take us into his fishroom and give us a rundown on his techniques for culturing blackworms. And if that's not enough for you David Roberts has an update on the lungfish habitat revegetation project - we thought it had failed but there might be some good news after all!

There's been a few members hinting that there'll be some special items coming along for the auction. If you're a member and you want to spruik what you'll have on offer, feel free to leave a post on the facebook event to whet everyone's appetite: https://www.facebook.com/events/553804451442401/

Next Saturday we'll be joining forces with SOWN to participate in Healthy Waterways' "Connect to Your Creek Week". We'll have a display set up at New Farm Park alongside other catchment related groups (https://www.facebook.com/events/979718955408699/) so feel free to drop by and check it out. If you're interested in helping out send through a message - volunteers manning the display or helping to set up would be greatly appreciated.

No email at the moment. However on facebook there was something.

This meeting we'll have two excellent presentations.

Queensland Museum wildlife photographer of 33 years and recipient of the 2015 Eureka Prize for Science Photography, Gary Cranitch, will show us some of his fantastic work; and

Michael Hutchison and his team from the Bribie Island Fisheries Research Centre have produced their Jungle Perch Production Manual and Michael will give us a run down on how the project went.

From email.

Our next general meeting is this Friday night (7:30pm at the Bar Jai Hall, Clayfield). This meeting we'll talk through our upcoming field trip involving the release of threatened Mary River Cod fingerlings as part of the conservation program. We'll also get a tour of Bush Heritage Australia's beautiful Yourka Reserve (near Innot Hot Springs) and have a look at the results of the recent aquatic survey undertaken by ANGFA Qld members.
