Us plug on heater...ok to run full time?

Recommended Posts

Wanted to get opinions please?

I'm looking at setting up a small breeding tank for my guppies, and was looking at a cheap heater from eBay.

Has anyone had a US plug adaptor running full time...or wouldn't u risk it.

TIA

I have a chinese adapter running full time for small internal filter. Been on for 2 months no problems.

I usually dont mind buying chinese products but be careful with heaters. even top branded ones can have problems.

Hope that helps.

Forum sponsor AoA sell Australian approved heaters in Australia for $10. http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/aquarium_heaters.php

For the madness of having 240V under water that I might put my hands into ... I'd want something designed for 240V. I don't think the plug style matters much (but your insurance company might).... so I'd go the local option for heaters.

Dude do not do it. The yanks use 110 volt, we are one 240-220 volt. I have seen US products explode on our system. Don't do it FFS. Just get a heater from one of the sponsors , cheaper and safer.
