Native Shrimp fishing - Brisbane Northside

Recommended Posts

You have heaps of options on the northside. Just look on google maps and find a decent looking creek and you should be good.

I have just as much fun looking for a spot as I do catching anything. Its all part of the adventure.

If you just want shrimp without the adventure go to a fish shop. Mappins at West End is good for natives.

As rainbow runner said, a bait trap with fish scraps will catch heaps if you are in the right place. When we go fishing at Glen Lyon Dam we throw in about 6 traps with some fish guts/scraps we get from the other fishermen or shop and use it as bait in the traps. We end up with about +30 large I believe native shrimp.

From an older thread I recall they are macrobrachium sp.
