gene4567
Hello, I've just set up my first marine tank and added some live rock yesterday and so far have found some interesting things. Snails, a crab, a clam, what I think is a featherduster worm (to hard to get a photo of to have someone confirm) and another worm like thing that I'm not sure of. I spent a bit of time on Google looking at aiptasia an i don't think that's it but I could be wrong. If anyone can have a look a look and maybe identify if it's good or bad that would be great, it frightens easy and disappears quickly. I've seen it in 2 other spots of the live rock so far ( could be the same one or multiple.

That was a freak creature to remove. Cheers.
african-cichlids
you mean brittle star? Thay are good scavengers mate I'd leave them in your tank. As long as it's not the green ones which are known once decent size to take down fish. Google green brittle star

Covered in feather dusters with heaps of variations of colours Well luckily I was already planning a sneaky trip to pet city on Friday. But yeah I will do. Might help me identify the one I already think is a feather duster. I've also got a crab in the live rock. He is tiny but from the looks of him he's not a gorilla crab, not 100% sure of that though. Yeah I've been glued to it everytime I get home from work. I like scaring the clam and the worm so the go back hiding and then watching them re appear

Many a time I have seen 40 to 60 from one tube worm, the most ever I have gotten is a mass of 92 from one rock off one tube worm, large masses of the soft tubed polychaeta is cool to see and quite common! There are fan worms, cocos, several types of calcium tubed worms including xmas tree worms, soft tubed worms which is possibly yours and so on, put something near it quickly, if it retracts quickly it is a tube worm if it bends to retract semi slowly, it is a feather sea star. I did up a long thread on these guys years back. These are few of mine up high of maybe 35 or so now and increasing, lol, the speckled ones are the fast breeders. The ones in my tank retract quickly as soon as you look at them pretty much.
gene4567
Thought I would share a progress of my tank. A friend of mine needed to make room in his reef tank so I scored a couple free corals. Slipshodman and Aqua Addict
