Donnacha
Just wondering......if I was to catch a baby bull shark out of the river.....would it be possible to keep it in a tank? what size tank would you recommend? Is it legal? Is it true that sharks need to be moving for their gills to work and if so would a powerhead in an esky work?? Not sure if I am just dreaming but I have caught some sharks that are around the 40cm mark that would be SOOOOOOO cool in an aquarium but I dont want to kill the poor thing by trying and I dont want to break the law. IDEAS?????? oh and how long before my Barra's (35cm) become food??
cycindahead
I have seen sharks in a tank, hold on, that was underwater world, or was it sea world?, as for the barra, was it for the shark? If not, it will NEVER be ready to eat, those chemicals you put in your tank will stay in the fish. Your call, good luck
damo83
Sorry but you're dreaming... Bull Sharks can grow to over 3m and even at 40cm I imagine they would need quite a bit of swimming room to remain in optimum health.

pisces
Yes it is legal , Keeping a small bullshark in even in a 8x2x2 is not practicle ( long term ) . I used to work and dive as a commercial diver for Beven Grieve up and till 1996 . Back then I used to catch and keep fully grown grey nurse ( fully protected now days ) , reef nurse and wobbygongs . They were kept in very large kids swimming pools with very large trickle filters made from 60 litre plastic garbage bins . As greater experience this was I have changed my views these days and wouldn't do it again .
Venom
I have kept Port Jackson sharks in a tank that was 10x2x3 high you can keep some sharks but remember bull sharks grow 8-10 feet in length you would need a pool (concret) and its ileagal to keep most sharks as they are protected by Aust Laws. Try talking to Sea world marine section and I would suggest not to do it uless you have a alot of money to waste when I had 3 port jackson sharks it was costing me $80.oo a week to feed them and keep tank maintence up. Volkslid
Dont know if anybody remembers the adrenilin bar in brissy a few years ago, but they had a circular tank in the middle with 2 small 1 mtre black tip reef sharks in it, It looked awesome & instead of watching the wallaby test match on the big screen I spent all night just wathing these 2 sharks swim around. It is possible but the cost is huge & bull sharks although may be easy to get do grow quite quickly & if you were prepared to out load a shit load of cash to get it set up the sharks would quickly out grow it & it would all become a waste. good luck, just keep it as a dream
