Peru - apisto trip from couple of Norway guys

I don't know if I have posted this one. This is a peru trip by some fish nuts.

Typical of fish - the local fisherman have a thousand names for each fish - and most of them are wrong. The guy who owns this site is one of the world experts on Apistos - and has done a number of tirps - I posted before his trip for the true A. cruzi.

Lots of regani/eunotus type species from around this area, Pebas type species, and of course aggies and bitaeniata.

One thing interesting is we talk about bettas living in pubbles - look where they are catching the apistos.... Mostly cause they can only get there when it is dry. Anyhow note the amount of leaf material in the water.

This is a great site to keep on hand for all the latest info on apistos. Check out apisto news section for other cool info.

Fantastic link. I absolutely adore perusing collection trip photo-diaries. You may be familiar with a couple of guys named Ed Burress and Ken Davis that did a Uruguay trip going a while back now - excellent photos and specimens. I think Ken runs collecting trips annually.

So jealous, but I can't find the thread again unfortunately.

Ed's off to peru this year. I'm not sure when, he may have already left or it's soon. For those who like Gymnogeophagus and pike cichlids, and fish collecting and sports fishing holidays check out Aqva Terra. A lot of the USA and European cichlid guys from the CRC and C-F forums have been on collecting trips with Felipe Cantera. Apart from the air fair, it's a very affordable holiday, but it's such a pity we could never bring our fish home with us, other wise the holiday would probably pay for itself.

I really enjoyed reading that gingerbeer thanks for posting that up :)

Can we get any of the species they have found over here?

The good thing with Apistos is that you can have any of them - if someone will import. The problem is that if you want a particular species it may not be common.
