japes
For those wondering why that last photo is in there, ozarowana has a little theory going on how to identify the Araguaia and Tapajos variants apart. Here's a reasonably similar angle of one of my fully coloured Araguaia males.

Sarg
I've been going up and down between the 2 and I cant tell... though Oz you need to talk to japes about fish photography
japes
I've been going up and down between the 2 and I cant tell... though Oz you need to talk to japes about fish photography I was going to wait for ozarowana to explain it but I'll touch on it briefly. Note in his fourth photo the solid orange patch running from the base of the back of the dorsal fin to the caudal fin. This isn't present on any of my Araguaia variants. Sarg
I figured it was somthing to do with colour since you said your was fully coloured up but I didn't see that.
ozarowana
Yes this is a pair I got from gyung who is a member here. There are a number of people who have this line which we believe are true tapajos. Apart from the upper caudal peduncle stripe, head colouration is quite different from the araguaia variant as well.
