Wondering if I should order these guys,

6x Assorted Morph Package delivered to your door in australia (livefish.com.au)

They look like good value. I need to do more research on them.

I have not ordered through live fish before so cant speak of their service etc, but the morphs are great they can handle low light, and are pretty tough and not too fussy on water parameters, very good starter coral, they love a broadcast feed once a week and a target feed once a fortnight

I will get a list of a few places we order off frequently and have never let us down :)

I also have these guys coming from reefurbished,

Pity the branching type corals are harder to keep, I like their structure and contrast to the other types of corals.

I had never heard of WYSIWYG before it came to corals, but I'm loving being able to buy online and get the exact coral that you want.

yepo the old what you see is what you get, alot of shops or keepers would use heavy heavy blue lights so it was always hard to see what the coral would actually look like so WYSIWYG is a very good thing :)
branching or SPS corals do take alittle more stability and light, and a seasoned tank is better for them, so give it time and you can get some Birdsnest and other acro which is pretty cool

Had a bit of a win and picked up this new aquarium light for $10. The old refugium one wasn't an aquarium light and was rusted out we were worried about the light falling into the water.

Have some corals on the way but somehow they needed to go from the Goldcoast to Brisbane airport, to get to me in Warwick.

Has anyone kept the splendid mandarin fish? I've never really considered them due to having to naturally supply enough copepods in the tank and fuge.

Now I come across these guys and wondering how well they would feed? my salt fish get NLS and occasionally frozen mysis shrimp.

Looks like they sold out between finding them and posting on here.

Yer I just shot a very annoying vid because all my fish were out at once but its full of reflections and it looks like I've got the shakes lol.

Here it is but I'll try for a better vid some time.

Thanks for the interest guys:)

I finally brought a timer for my refugium light, beginning to think that running it 24hrs a day may do more harm then good, although I really don't know.

Also removed half the macro algae as it was going great. Getting some kind of red algae growing on top, was thinking from too much light.

The pic below shows everything after I removed half the algae, looks like plenty left.

Dont run the light 24/7 you will get algal growth something shocking, we run our fuge light for 6 hours through the night currently, and off all day, Chaeto is vibrant green, depening on your light you can inc or dec when required

we have a separate pump that rolls the chaeto also, keep everything nice and clean

enjoy

Ok, so at this stage I'm trying 12hr on at night opposite the main tank light. I did do some reading and got different opinions, so I'll stick with this for a bit.

I've always done the 12hr on / 12hr off thing, my thinking is less could make it seem like winter to the fish (and I wanna view them as much as possible). I just use a combination of bristlenose/goldspot/sailfin plecos along with rubber scourers or magnetic cleaners, I've just tested the first one that has a scraper blade on it that came with the salt tank and it worked a treat.

Had a lovely visit to Neilson's Marine Mates yesterday and would have to say they are a great place to visit. Great selection of fresh and marine, didn't pickup any fishes on this trip but got some lovely native plants from their adjoining nursery.

Have a bit of a prob. Was just checking out the sump/fuge tonight since I haven't had much of a look since I started just running the light at night.

Anyway I found these guys, and managed to pull out 3, small, medium, large ones.

What the hell are they and is it a big problem?

Thanks for any help.

I'm also thinking of adding an auto top off system.

Here are the ones I've been looking at,

Aqua Excel Auto Top Up Unit - Gravity Float Switch - The Tech Den

Aquarium Auto Refill Filler Top Off System Valve Water Level Controller U | eBay

Auto Water Filler Off System Water Level Controller Aquarium ATO System Set | eBay

Neither of them are very expensive, I do like to buy from TheTechDen but he's currently out of stock.

Just thinking of hooking this up to a 20L water bottle that I can top up every week or two with a bucket and a funnel.
