JWoods
I am setting up a new 4'x18" sump for a 2000 liter cichlid system and need some filter media. Planning to use filter sock, then Dacron, Black sponge foam, Jap Mat, Seachem Matrix and Purigen, Coarse crushed coral (30-40mm pieces) The sump has 3 media sections plus the (6000 l/hr) pump section. I was planning on having it set up as follows: First compartment: filter sock, then Dacron, Black sponge foam, Jap Mat Second compartment: ceramic rings and 4 litres of Seachem Matrix Third compartment: 500 ml of Purigen and 10kg of crushed coral As I haven't used a sumped system before, any feedback or advise would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking to buy the above mentioned media and media boxes/bags. Cheers, Jonas
mad-n-angry
ok what i do is have the water hitting the top of the jap sponge to get the bigger particles then the dacron and i wouldn't worry about the black sponge other than that your looking good for it u may need to move the coral round to allow the water to flow thru it if it packs together too much it restricts the flow a bit well thats what ive found with smaller and larger pieces together anyway
