RAR
Looks like a male to me. Females usually don't have as much colour as a male. Sort of a grey colour. So my vote is male.

hareysfish
first thing mate , to look out for , that you know exactly what type of peacock it is , as most female peacocks look the same and are easily cross bred. also where did you get him from , was it from an lfs or a breeder, as some lfs"s have tanks of assorted peacocks , which are usually line bred hybrids imported into the country. most peacocks usually like a colonie as some males can get a little narky with just the one female. hth

Shaneo707
Definitely a male unles your feeding "white crane". Also what are you feeding him as his gut looks like it would put mine to shame, or could be the photo angles. As to breeding if not sure what type don't bother and keep him as a display, so many different types of Peacocks out there now makes it hard. Cichlidae
Aulonocara Nyassae, common name Blue Peacock. I breed them but have no females atm. about 2-3 months for next batches to grow. Try Russell at Redlands Pet centre, he often has pure strains of peacocks, Just be carefull who you speak to, I recommend talking to Russell himself unless he has employed some one who knows about fish, most of the girls there will recommend low range test kits and to just guess the colour for your malawi and tanganyikan tanks, and happily sell you a pack of blood worms to take home with your africans. I never did understand this as russell is extremely knowledgeable, has great prices and is a genuine good bloke. Imo he would be the guy to see, you may even be lucky enough to get a holding female have seen a few in his tanks and bought some myself. Good luck. Cichlidae.
