Need advice on ponds and uv sterilizers

Recommended Posts

Due to brad still being abroad i thought id ask here first.

Background: I have 2 big tanks outside in direct sunlight. Both about 200ish litres each and they are greener than the actual colour green. THere are bn in the tanks but it is the water that is green.

Not a problem for the fish as 1 is a breeding tank for hongis but the other is my fry tank and i would like to be able to view them to make sure they are alright.

So i thought uv sterilizer would be the go.

Conflict: In about 6months or so i am moving into another house and am going to have a pond (about 500-1000L) (which i want filtration and a uv sterilizer in that) So i thought why not kill 2 birds with one stone and buy the sterilizer for the pond now and then use it in the pond in 6months.

Problem: I dont no which way to go. I only need this thing to last 1-2 years tops and i am on a budget so cheaper rather than longer lasting is the go. Also i dont no whether to get a filter with one built in like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=004

which is the way im heading or to buy a stand alone unit and buy the filter llater down the line.

Can someone point me in the right direction. Thanx

Im Back Ash lol

A UV would clarify your tank outside easily

They work by killing everything water bourne that passes past the Globe

I have a turtle tank at home that was so green I couldnt see anything

I added the UV and has been crystal clear ever since

It cleared up inside 24 hours

When ya come in Ash Ill show you some really good ones perfect for you

Ill also show ya some really good pond filters

Easy and cheap

There can be problems with raising fry and having really clean water

I use UV on all the tanks at the shop and I have no problems at all

Brad
