noyakfat
if you think it is a fair price and it will handle the volume of water you have, i don't see any drama
japes
What kind of fish do you plan on/currently keep in the tank? That's going to be a lot of turnover.
Goat
If you're keeping Malawi's maybe you could but i think it may be a bit of overkill. I have an FX5 on my 150G (560L)tank and it pushes a heap of water around, I'd say its borderline too much flow. Cheers Goat

japes
If you're definitely getting a 6 foot setup soon then you could buy it for the future, as it will do nicely on that system.

mattstevens
I ran an fx5 on a 4 x 18 x 18 no problems with too much flow. You'll be fine.

noyakfat
the reason for my original post = I have a 2217 EHEIM on my 6ft. During a house move once, I had it on a VERY small holding tank and the spray bar setup was placed in such a way as to control the water re-entering the tank. The move took longer than anticipated and the fish ended up staying in the smaller tank for over a month with no problems. Just be thoughtful when planning on your sprayer bar set-up and your 'scaping of the tank. As others have mentioned, your suggested filter would be great for a future upsize. If the water flow can be controlled in such a way as to cause no problems, IMO there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to filtration. Good luck
