SPO-00L
Hey Guys, Yesterday i cleaned my tank out and was going to put the hood back on today (needs 2 people to put it back on), Anyway, last night i went downstairs to get a glass of water and noticed a fish had jumped out of the tank and was lying on the tiles. I thought it was done for, so i went to pick him up and he moved, i quickly got the net and put him back in the tank near the filter to get some flowing water through him. Anyway, he kept sinking to the bottom trying to move and the other fish started to attack the poor bugger, so i quickly removed him and set up the spare 4x2x2 tank i have in my room and used one of the internal filters and a spare heater i have. This morning he was swiming around and seemed to be ok, but when i got home from work today he is still alive, however upside down at the bottom of the tank. Is there anything i can do to help the poor bugger? I try to nudge him and he just moves with the current. I would rather euthanise him than to put him through anymore stress. Any idea's would be greatly appreciated. Remember to always cover your tanks.. Cheers, Trent

SPO-00L
i would say he has been upside down for most of the day. He is just resting up against the heater at the moment, still breathing. But if its going through pain i would rather euthanise him than make him suffer. There is no laboured breathing, however he did fall from 2 metres high, so its a big jump to land on tiles I just went and put my fingers around him to get him to stand upright and he gave a big kick and swam away, now he is upside down again.. So he has some fight left, but yeah..
mattstevens
Sorry to hear. Not really sure what you should do. Although, it doesn't sound as if the fish will make it. I've had fish jump out through a gap between my lids and the side of the tank through the night, it sucks.
raff
I've never had a fish jump out of a tank like that on me, but anytime I've seen one upside down, it's never been good. Unless someone else has any better ideas, you can try and continue to give it the best conditions possible.

SPO-00L
Cheers FIIK, i just hooked up the venturi line to the filter and he immediately reacted to it, so ill give it another 12 hours and see how he goes. Cheers, Trent
greenterra
As above, keep the tank well oxygenated. Keep the tank dark and I would not handle the fish in any way what so ever. Adding extra stress to the fish will only add to the problem. Hope it pulls through for you.
