Deeg
Hi everyone I have just got 2 mangrove jack approx 15cm, they live in a 6x2x2 tank with heaps of driftwood. They live in there with a barra (30cm), salmon cat, tandus cat, small kreft turtle and a pair of yellowfin moltos, at the moment all are geting along ell and have been for about 3weeks, all fish are eating well. I was just wondering as i am new to the native game, what i need to know about keeping jacks healthy and happy?
Sephiroth
Hey mate, First off, make sure you do research before you get fish, 2 Jacks in a tank that big is asking for deaths, unless there's that odd chance that they live together peacefully which i highly doubt. You dont have to do much to keep Jacks happy, just feed em lol. Their gutso's, you can feed them a range of food like frozen baits such as prawns, pippies and pilchards. They can be a bit difficult to get onto pellets, but with time he should slowly adapt to pellets, you can also feed them livies such as goldfish, guppies and Feeder Firetail Gudgeons, but i dont really recommend it as the fish can introduce disease, i'd just feed them livies when mates or family comes over so you can show them off. Its also good to keep some Sea/Aquarium Salt in the tank. So yer not much to it, just watch their aggression level as they become more mature and just do your research . Deeg
Thanks fellas Yeah have heard that keeping a couple of jacks together is trouble, they seem to be doing fine at the moment no signs of aggression but have got plenty of back up tanks for them to live in if they did get to aggresive.
