smicko
hi all, i just got a cabinet for my display tank, forgot to check the height first and my sump doesnt fit. setup a cannister for now until i get a new stand. is there a way to keep the bacteria in my sump (wet/dry) alive for 2-3 weeks. i probably wont need that long but just to be safe. i was thinking of putting an airstone under the media (30kg of scoria rock and some noodles, couple of hundred bio balls). would that help them at all? thanks mick
mad-n-angry
run a pump thru it so it circulates but dont forgett to feed it with food or a prawn head or something so there is amonia created to feed the bacteria
japes
If it's in media bags you could simply sit it in the tank. It's obviously going to look pretty horrendous but will do a good job of keeping it alive (and filtering the tank).
smicko
thanks for the advice guys. all the scoria rock is in baskets so they have gone into the tank. ithink there will be enough bio in them start up the sump again, so i will clean the bio balls and put them aside for now. thanks, mick
