brockssracer
Well on friday afternoon I went to xysti53's house to collect a female texas. I threw her in the tank with my male, the jd's and the red forests. As soon as she was in the water the male tex and male j'd were no longer best of mates. They bonded straight away and to my suprise this is that has happened tonight.

Cichlidae
Yeah you can always trust Asia to take things too far. I'm sure it won't be long before fish are being created within labs and test tubes if they arent already. That thing probably sold for some incredible $$$ if its a real picture they also love paint shoping their pics over there. I am skeptical at the blue line along the top of the dorsal fin that probably isnt really there still the fish would be very expensive at least 5k. more if fertile. this is a red version of my intended developments Super Red Texas sold in the US as SRT anyway. this is a species of fader ie end colour will be different to juvenile colour much like a black blothcy Red Devil who ends up a magnificent red. Juvenile of SRT srt_fader_young.jpg[/attachment:eai73nqf] Nearly finnished fading fade_nearly_complete.jpg[/attachment:eai73nqf] I have the base to start these, you have the female if you get my drift...... So now you know my reasons! I have final ambitions of entering asian shows with my fish and then export of internationally renowned product.... dreams! Cichlidae. brockssracer
well some bubs will definately be comin your way. Some very nice fish you have there btw. That blue line on the dorsal fin does look like it has been photoshopped on. Just doesnt look natural the more I look at it.
Cichlidae
The faders pics are courtesy of Flowerhorn USA, cartman. Mine are a bit away from that and I have no texas in my line yet. My next development is to increase the redness of the head and add add blue worming. as a byproduct i am expecting a few with full green pearl like basiliensis along the whole body. with the shape of your female A SRT would be easy to create, as well as being an addition to my worming and pearls in my own species development I am expecting a final result within 18 months hopefully. Then I believe I will have enough understanding to work with $5000 fish. I see so many possibilities with a fish like that, Tex x BP x Salvini x Festae would produce a double script bansai if selected crossing worked then the result of that with a double script bansai FH and $$$$$$ should be the end result for the best 10-20 fish. while I do this I breed and sell pure breeds and some hybrid peacocks to fund my little enterprise. Its human nature to always try to improve on nature, otherwise we would all still be wearing animal skins and running round with rocks and sticks! C. brockssracer
ant for the life of me find the digicam that my daughter has hidden so i have pulled out the dvdcam and shot a couple vids. This is the first one of the current pair I have. The next video will be of my last female with the current male and their fry. The final video if it is visible will be the miracle of life....... The first fry breaking out of their egg!!!!!!!! brockssracer
In the middle of the video you will be able to see 3 white unfertilised eggs near each other. near that you will see a wriggler. if not go youtuve as it might be a bigger picture [yt:2odp09eq]<object width="850" height="688"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohXg6MWpqhs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohXg6MWpqhs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/yt:2odp09eq]
Cichlidae
thats great footage, I definately like the new female more she has amazing finnage. your male looks stunning in the vid, the photo's dont do him justice. They make great parents too, mine tend to spend more time fighting over who is to defend the fry. I have had to seperate all parties for everyones safety. I dont recall reading what size tank are they in? C.
brockssracer
4x15x18 tank. the male is a very attentive father, he and my last female took turns to look efter the fry even during feeding time. They are still a lil agro at the moment as there are 3 jack dempseys in there as well. Just dont have any other tank to put them in... well i got a 2x18x15 tank but was gonna use that for the fry once they become free swimming. Cichlidae
Holy Sh%t! Breeding pair of texas and 3 JDs in a 4 footer thats amazing. Love the bubble ledge too thats great! texas can get psycho when breeding to my understanding of the species, you must definately be doing something right. C. brockssracer
yeah the jd's are starting to get chased a little bit, but seems there is enough shelter in there so that its not just the same one getting chased all the time. I'd like to get some more tanks but funds are limited at the moment. hence I am going to be starting to make up some hoods and hopefully some stands. Cichlidae
Yeah I know the $$$ pinch. its not nice is it! we say good bye to austar this month, the last luxury we had, you just have to have 1. we need to generate $1500/week to be able to move, its gunna be a scary few months till april, hoping on a $9000 recreational gamefishing dam job I have quoted on, The customer asked for a top and bottom quote, worst case scenario will be about a $1500 fishing dam. their house is about a $2 000 000 mansion so I am hoping for the big one but with the economic situation i guess he will go with the cheep quote and ask to improve later. probably why he is rich and I am broke. At least i do what I love for a living though. I have a unique ability for finding second hand tanks, do you want me to keep an ear out for you, I never spend over $30 and would expect at least 3footer with a stand for that, Got a free one thats scratch free, 3x15 x18. not to long ago picked up a stand for $10 filtration $25 (new) and grew out 100+ fish in it. they are out there. brockssracer
I know the feeling of moving, we will be doing that in a couple months so we are starting to try and get some money put away, but as I am with labour hire my work has been a little inconsistant lately so I am not always getting a full paycheck, and this rain aint helping either.
Cichlidae
damn, Ive been wishing for rain! my rainwater tanks were empty and I was back to buckets and chlorine removers. My tanks are full now. I am hoping the rain goes and heaps of people need labourers to complete their jobs on hold now. Good luck! My retainer (work) is constant and at home these days. I only do about 10-15 hrs /wk. I help my partner with website maintenance in a high trafic website. beats the crap out of being a chef though! C.
