Dovii Tankmates?????

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have a male dovii (he's prob 30cm long) in a 5x2x2 by himself atm

and i wondering if my common pleco(about 20 -25cm) would be ok with him.

I personally dont think it will work as dovii's tend to be pretty aggro (from my exp.) even when they are by themselves,

but if anyone can prove otherwise or suggest ways to introduce the pleco,

( i was thinking maybe eggcrate to seperate til they get used to each other)

that won't result in the pleco being mauled to death i would like to hear them.

Cav

its a gamble. Ive seen dovii pair with an umbee pair before but in a large tank. Once there mature if its a male in your size tank i would have my doubts

Wow must have been a BIG tank :esup:

haha yeah ill try dig the video up, a bloke on mfk did it, but has since removed the umbees haha. They both have fry in the vid, from memory the tank was 10 by something.

throw a few pics up, i recently picked up some dovii fry cant wait to grow a nice male out

They aren't the most difficult fish to breed and one spawn = flooded market ;)

more so finding a female for a male can be hard. And from what im told and read even constant breeding pairs the male can randomly kill the female if left together and not divided? I just hear of alot of females being killed :innocent:
