sticking the background on with oil..

Recommended Posts

hey,

ive gone for the cheap option and bought a stick on background for my 6x2x2 and i was just wondering if anyone here has used olive or vegetable oil to stick the background on..? if so how did you go about it? apparently it makes it look realistic, like its inside the tank...

im just looking for some tips before i jump into it...

thanks

I used the oil option when I first started out, It does work ok, I used the spray on oil.

But over time it develops air pockets underneath it, and it looks crap tbh, I wish I hadnt done it becuase now I have a tank against the wall that I cant get my hand in behind to smooth out the air bubbles, and a sticky back wall.

You need a very straight edge like a window cleaner to get all the air out aswell.

Before I started painting the backs of my tanks, I used to use the spray on oil as well. It worked a treat, never really had to many probs except after it had been on for quite a few months some of the top corners started to dry out and lift.
