Advice feeding corydoras fry

Recommended Posts

I have about 12 corydoras fry (about 10 days old) that I'm currently feeding microworm. This is the first time I've bred corydoras and first time using microworm. Questions:

how long should a microworm culture last?

what is the best method of storing it?

how can you tell if it's time to get rid of the culture?

From the instructions I use

Its about 6 weeks each culture should last before it becomes to smelly

I keep them on top of my tanks to keep them warm in a plastic container that has some breathe holes

Though these are covered as they get flies and bugs in it

feed the worms Yeast when they stop climbing the walls

When the culture gets like a soup mixture on top scoop this off and use it to start your new culture

I breeder I know keeps 3 cultures going all the time starting each 2 weeks apart to keep a constant supply going all the time

Apart from a green cloud of infusora in the first couple of days I have only been sparingly feeding freeze dried artemia cysts.

I am also using an inside the tank cannister filter with extra filter wool put in so fry cannot swim inside it.

I have also added a couple of apple snails to clean up uneaten food and the fry feed on the apple snail wastes.

So far the tank is keeping remarkably clean and I have not seen any dead fry bodies.
