Filters not getting enough oxygen

This is general question to see if any one else has the same problems.

Does any one else have problems with their canister filters not producing enough oxygen and have to have a power head in their as well to produce enough oxygen for their fish just noticed it while my power head died last night

If you use spray bars on your cannister, try aiming it up towards the surface of the water causing the surface ripples.

These breaking of surface tension really helps oxygen exchange of the water.

or u can make a hole at the end of the output hose and put a short piece of airtube so it can blow bubbles. just like when u connect a airtube to a powerhead.

i always keep a powerhead running just in case any of the two breaks down while im not here and to create some more movement for the waste, but thats because ive got sand bottoms instead of gravel

also, the more oxygen the easer the break down of nitrite right?
