Doug
does anyone in this forum happen to have a little extra bream pituitary extract lying around they aren't using ?!??! Where/why the hell would anyone actually get this stuff...I'm sure that there aren't any lfs's around who would stock them Has anyone here had any experience with artificial hormone-induced spawning ? When I was at uni studying marine biology, I saw it being done to induce spawning in starfish, but not actual fish...
Alan_Cab
All native fish hatcheries use the needle. Bass, yellow belly, silver perch, murry cod etc. etc. Some aquarium fish farms us piturity gland extract on big fish. It is common in aquaculture. But I was at a fish farm in Bankock in 1970 that raised hundreds of thousands of clowns without the use of hormones. Alan.

I guess there must've been something in the water there I suppose Mother Nature is still the best at breeding fish..
