i know im gonna have to kill the fry but

i have a smaller tank mainly for some of my trio of pepps and 1 larger male BN. he is faning some eggs which i would assume come from a female pepp as the are no female BN in the tank. has anyone ever heard of this happening before? i was told there is no way it would which is why i put my extra male in there until i got a few girls for him but now this has happened. just so we are clear, i have no intensions of keeping any of the fry as they will be turned into feeders for my africans.

It would actually be interesting to see what they turn out like, I know we all don't like hybrids, and i'm dead against them, but just keep a couple just to see what sort of colours they are.

I used to have a male that would kick other males of there eggs and then fan them as his own, could be a possibility as it is highly unlikely that you have breed a common with a pepp. Steve

I have heard of commons being surrogate fathers as in they muscle out the pep males and then fan the fry I also have some pep males that I use as surrogate fanners for there lazy fellow males. But I have scene a pep crossed with a common and some members have but put it down too light colouring as the common cross peps are lighter in colour almost like they are washed out. But that is only from what I have scene and not saying it is gospel truth.

Cheers

they are an orangy yellow colour.

Ha Adro peps eggs are a mint green colour. so they sound like commons.

there is a way to sex b/n by feel. you rub your finger down the nose of the fish (from eyes to lip).males feel like jelly, females are armor like plates, you can sex a b/n around 6cm with this method.

i don't know if pep will x with commons hever heard of it before.

Cheers
