Hello,

We have both the slender and broad leaf varients of anubias it our tank. The problem is that the leaves are getting covered in a dark green substance like algae which does not come off with rubbing and makes the plants look fairly grubby.

Is there any way to stopthis happening. We have pruned the leaves back leaving the healthy looking leaves on sunday, but is there any way to stop this occuring.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If you can ID it, it may be easier to avoid/treat. Here are some discriptions - Algae - google can help with pictures. To me it sounds like either fuzz, beard or brush algea.

There is probly too much nutrients in the water. Anubias is a relativly slow growing, low light plant, that doesn't need too much nutrients.

To reduce the nutrients you could try either feeding less, changing more water more often, or add more plants (research their needs first).
