Prawn Cycle

hey all

Just wandering if i can use a prawn 2 cycle a freswater tank or is that just a saltwater thing?

Any source of ammonia will do it, so a rotting prawn should work fine for a freshwater tank.

Have I had experience with doing this? No. Wait for someone else to clarify

Your tank is probably already cycled by now but why dont you get a tough species like a goldfish (or feeder goldfish) which has a large biomass and conesquently will put out a lot of waste. Add some used aquarium water, used substrate and used filter media to speed up the bacteria establishment process. Once cycled, you should be able to return the goldie to your aquarium store if you dont want any money/credit for it.

If you have a very small tank, a platy will do a similar job.
