No flash was used, just tank lighting and an ISO of about 1000 to get te shutter speed up and give a nice bright exposure, 1/50 shutter was used to remove as much motion as possible while letting enough light in.

The tank does consist of 4 T5 15000K lights so with all 4 on it is rather bright.

here is the un-edited version.

i thought it might be an overhead flash but 4 T5 15000K lights will explain it.

you might already know these things but ill say it anyway. using a lower iso will give you a clearer pic with a less grainy look. i try to use ISO100 all the time with a 540ez speedlight set at 1/32 power.

also what F. were you using? using a higher apperture will give you more depth of field which will put more of the fish in focus. i try to use an f. around the middle of what the lense is capable of to get the most detail.

anyways nice pic mate look forward to seeing more

Yeah I kept the ISO high to get a bit better exposure, I think the 40D seems to handle the high ISO ok. The F stop used was about 6.3, I like shallow depth of field in these sort of shots. If im taking landscapes etc... I use an aparture setting about f18-22 really depends on the situation I guess.

Thanks for the comments, I will be posting more shots up on here shortly. In the mean time you could look at my WEBSITE. It is fairly amature, but I like to play around with photogrophy.
