fishy
I am thinking about getting a baby giant gourami for my 4ftx2ftx2ft tank...would I only be able to have one in this tank, and what other fish could I keep with it? Thanks
bmxican
i would say your tank is way too small for 1 let alone 2 giant gourami.. they grow fast and are aggressive and once they grow they wont even be able to move around in your tank. if you do you plan to upgrade it will probably come a hell of alot quicker than you expected. if you want to keep them when theyre big then you would want atleast a 6x2.5x2.5 for 1 GG or 8x2.5x2.5 for 2. we have some in at work and they have been in the shop for 6 months and in that time they have more than doubled in size from around 15-20cm to around 30-45cm not sure if theyll slow down but at the moment theres no signs of it.. anyway thats just my opinion... fishbee
man... i know u probably think i'm crazy, but i have 1 55cms pink GG + pair of Huge jags + 2 30cms+ fish in a 5ft tank , and Bemexican is right, the GG is still growing + the other 2 fish is even faaster growing... my water is still clean, and change weekly bout 40%, run a 2400 lph cannister + 1800 lph internal, but any longer than weekly.. i'll be in trouble.. is a lot of hard work, but worth every cents
Sarahw1
a 4foot is way too small and not suitable fror even one. i have 2 giants and not only do they get bored easily and fight as they are territorial the other problem is you can stunt the growth of you gourami and they will look deformed. Not a good idea - it would be fine for one if you want to grow it up but not for too long.
