I need a cheap temp tank ... And silicon question ...

Recommended Posts

I need to silicon a fake rock into place (i hate the fact that the fish hide behind it) ...

Problem: It has a heap of juv fish in it ... Where can i put them for a few days while the silicon cures?

Will a big tubby thing from bunnings with an internal filter work?

How long will it take the silicon to cure and be safe to fill with water?

I will use the same filters (uncleaned) and the same substrate, and alot of the same water too ...

Thanks in advance

Hamza

You can use a large garbage bag as a liner inside any container as a temporary tank. ie stout cardboard box, fish box, garbage bin etc. Get a slightly thicker one and make sure it doesnt have any anti-bacterial additives. ie just a simple bag ONLY. I have used this many times.

To answer your silicon question, it will be dry enough in 24 hours to refill since you dont need full strength (its not structural). It will continue to cure slowly underwater but acetic cure is safe harmless vinegar which wont even be noticed since its well diluted in your tank.
