Redlands Pet Centre
Could everyone that I gave samples of Aqua One Colour Enhancer Pellets to please leave there feedback here so we can have a general discussion about it. I have confirmed with the importer that it is not White Crane rebranded and that it does not contain hormones. As they said, at the low price it is sold for they could not afford to add hormones. Anyway, I am keen to hear your opinions. So far we have been quite happy with it. We have been getting good colour results and no signs of extra aggression. Remember, a colour enhancing food should always be used in addition to a good mix of good quality foods and not as the sole food source for your fish. All of our experimenting with this food has been on that basis. Russ
japes
Hey Russ, Tried this on my main display tank but had little luck due to them being floating pellets, as they seemed to feed my overflow more than my fish and I prefer sinking pellets for my Eartheaters, so my testing circumstances probably aren't ideal. I've been using them every second day on my planted community tank in conjunction with Hikari products (Cichlid Gold, BioGold+, Community Mini-Wafers), as well as the occasional treat of Peas, Zucchini, Cucumber and Beefheart, with the main consumers of the AquaOne pellets being Angelfish and Keyhole Cichlids. Technical data aside (Protein, Ingredients, all that jazz), I have noticed no significant difference in colour from their standard diet. I'll continue to feed it on the current feeding schedule and keep you updated, but at this stage I haven't noticed any significant colour differences in these fish. With that said, the tank contains 4 Angelfish, made up of 2 breeding pairs, and the Keyholes colouration is more of a reflection of their mood as opposed to their diet (in my opinion), so my test is hardly thorough. Also keep in mind that these Hikari products are more expensive than the AquaOne pellets (I think). I'd be interested to see how the guys who keep Africans have gone with this, as when I was in your Electric Blues and Peacocks looked fantastic, perhaps Africans will prove the worth of this food. Redlands Pet Centre
Yes Ryan, I think you are right about Africans being more suitable for testing. We are testing it on small oscars, Rosy Barbs and the feeder golden barbs as well. So far the golden and rosy barbs appear to be more colourful after a couple of weeks. Its hard to tell with the oscars because they grow so fast and naturally get better colour as they get bigger. Thanks for testing it for me. Your opinion is greatly appreciated. Danish_Sausage
Russ, I have been using it on my adult Demasoni once a day for the last month or so and there has been no change in the breeding habits and the fish have coloured up some what. I am also using it on the fry and they are colouring up also. For my point of view, I can tell that they are being feed something but it is not that obvious compared to the colours you get from using crane. Fish Breeders
been using this pellet on my african display which consists of mainly males and i must say it is GREAT all fish are fat and healthy no bloat problems and the color is defiantly a huge improvement compared to spectrum infact i would nearly say it is the best color food around that appears natural the girls i have in the tank are still dull and boring and are still having mouthful's so it defiantly does not have hormones or the effects of white crane here is a pic of my display red empress he was no where near that red before i put him on the food
dave
That has to be one of the more impressive male red empresses i've seen in a while. Keep up the great work and obviously keep feeding the great food. Dave
