just tested my ph of the tap and its 7.3 and my tank is about 6.8 - 7.0 i do 25% water change each week with out fail i was talking to brad and he said it dosnt have to to change is that good? i mean thats the ph i want my tank at or does it need to fluctuate

if thats the desired ph you want your tank to be at then there shouldnt be a problem, ph shouldnt fluctuate where possible

pending on what decor/rocks/substrate you have in the tank then it may be buffering your water, how long after you have done a water change are you checking the ph?

my tap water comes out at 6.7-7 it changes from time to time so i buffer up or down depending on what tank its for, but if you dont have to then its even easier

What make your tank pH stay where it is is very complicated.

You have got the carbonate cycle (form of carbon in the water) which is affected by plants.

You have got the water hardness which form a buffering affect - a buffer keeps the water pH stable.

This is why changing pH is not as simple as just throwing in some pH up or pH down IMO.
