Electric yellows n red forest jewells

Recommended Posts

As liljohn said yes no problem I have had together, but if jewels start breeding they will defend there territory. so one jewel can go in a community tank or with yellows no problem

yes as everyone saiod above...... but.......

red forest jewels come from a different region of africa, they come from the river system, and as a riverine cichlid they are used to alot lower PH (due to all the driftwood, etc in the river ways) than what other african cichlids do.

even though jewels are hardy they prefer PH's of 6.0 - 7.0. to put them in PH's of 8.0+ in my opinion is just as cruel as putting american cichlids in that PH.

I dont find a higher pH hurts them

its just they never colour up as intense in higher pH water

kind of like how you need to go low low with discus to get best colours

as was said, jewels can get nasty when defending fry

and yellows are wusses
