AussieCanadian
All my maingano males also have white lips.. not sure why have a few guesses but I'll leave it to the experts. All of mine seem happy as larry though and have had white lips for as long as I can remember. matt

Peter
I always assumed it was from what Benji suggested plus the type of abrasive rockwork surface from which they scavenge some of their food. Some of my colony have them, some don't.
bmxican
You get it with alot of mbuna, its usually the males that it happens to but females will get it too. They are wounds from lip locking when they fight. if your worried put a little bit of salt in the tank and it will heal up in no time. It could be over a territory or if he has some girls in the tank one of them could be ready to breed and the males are fighting for her. My demasoni were getting it alot until i took out one of the agro sub dominant males, all the rest looking alot better now.
HereFishieFishie
I would say without looking at pics, it's more than likely caused from a bit of fighting. Frenchy :sheep:
dave
Yeah definitely lip locking My 2 large males are constantly at it but the sub dominant male seems to have the whiter lips all the time.
