DannyH
Heya guys. I'm new to these forums, but know a couple of guys from other forums. Having said that, I already have a request :whoa: . I have a 4x2x2 which I had only just finished building an overflow box for, when I found out that I will be moving shortly. Since Ill have to drain the tank anyway, I'd much prefer to get it drilled. So, my question. Is there anyone in Brisbane who would be willing to drive to Kelvin Grove (5min out of the city), and drill a couple of 25mm holes for me? Ill happily supply beer/cash, whichever you'd prefer. Thanks for your help guys, looking forward to getting to know some of you. Danny :winktongue:
damo83
G'day mate, Why not give it a go yourself? For about $30-$35 you can get a diamond holesaw and drill as many holes as you want... provided you've got a drill of course Its suprisingly easy to do... just get some scrap glass to practice on (i used old lids) before tackling the tank. Plenty of water and a bit of patience and you're all sorted.
DannyH
Well yeah, if no-one is available ill tackle it myself. I have drilled glass in the past, but donthave my own holesaw/drill etc, so if worst comes to worst I can buy what I need, but for a 6pack or 2 (or 4 ) I thought someone might have been keen . I'm sure someone on here will do it for you... i've only drilled a couple of my own tanks so i wouldn't be completely comfortable drilling someone elses tank. muddywaters
Consider this. A professional quality diamond-tipped hole saw is going to cost you around $200. What sort of quality do you think you'll get for $8.50 off ebay? Ring this guy. He delivers NSW and has 20 years experience. Sure, he'll charge you but he won't break your tank! wolften
I bought a 3 pack of cheap yum cha diamond hole saws, 40/45/50mm for $22 delivered from somewhere in NSW of e bay. I have used the 40mm 10 times with no hassle. Just go steady and keep the water up to the holesaw as it's drilling. Sure does beat paying $10-$15 to have a hole drilled when ordering a tank, and paying $200 for a pro diamond drill, when it's only going to be used a few times. Not knocking the pro tools at all, I use them everyday. wolften
