Got these SAPAYO CHICHLIDs from the last auction . told very rare . can anyone tel me anything about them . their are in a 3 foot tank at the moment was going to move into a 4 foot because the 2 biggest have had a lip lock . How big do they grow?what size do they breed ? . i have goggled and got ID and thats about all. teck name "Aequidens Sapyensis"

Doesn't look like it, there is too much gold and red in the body, Blue Acaras fins are tinged slightly maroon but have a solid blue sheen when in the correct light, and their bodies have a greeny-grey base colour that is usually (depending on mood) quite contrasted with thick black and white vertical stripes. Head shape of those fish (or at least the photos) also appears to be too stubby and square, though the variance between Blue Acara specimens can be quite large. The typical 'Acara/Aequidens' style facial markings even appear different to the Blue Acaras, but much more akin to Gold Saums.

Not sure whether they're Sapayensis or another Aequidens sp. though.

we have fry :lol: tonight a friend was looking at these and said should there be babys in there . i looked and saw 40ish tiny fry swimming around mum . i decided to remove all the other fish and leave only the mum and dad . while chasing fish a found 1 little 6mm fry . so we are parents x2 of Sapayo,s :)
