ozarowana
Things such as overall shape, caudal peduncle thickness, dorsal and anal fin profile, shape of area between pelvic and anal fins etc etc have been thrown around but aren't always acurate. Best way is to look at breeding tubes, but obviously they need to be spawning.
Doug
The best way to do it is to raise about 5-6 from juvvies and let them pair off themselves. When they become ready to breed, breeding tubes will become apparent and this is probably the only way to accurately sex them.
aquaholic99
Like most cichlids, behaviour is also a good indicator. Even when juvenile, males are more bossy and confident.... and once you know the sex of one fish, watch how it interacts with the others to aid you with determining what sex the others are.
