Will tell you how good the Eheim Compact 5000 is as I got one a couple of days ago and will be setting up a new system with it. Would have been today only it uses 25mm output pipe. The good side for you is that it has an adjustable output flow rate as I think it might be a bit big unless you turn it down. Depending on your head hight it will be putting through about 50l + a minute so you will also need good flow out of your display tank.

Just my 2 cents

I personally would be using something like a 3000-2500LPH.

Eheim Compact Plus 2000

Good price with quality brand. (Check with sponsors on there price also)

I can see what you were aiming for there in regards to high turn over.

But I would be spending the money you save from the larger pump and putting it towards effective filtration media's.

Just because your pumping lots of water through your sump , does not mean it will filter better. A slower feed + appropriate media's will filter far more affectively.

Hey aldobug,

Those pumps you're lookin at at high in wattage bud. also dear.

Have you checked Guppies online?

Have a look at the pumps they have. I'm buying one from them that is 55w and under $100 for a 6000l/h.

Can't quite recall the name of it but Guppies is where I'm getting it.

Also the Devil Diablo pumps are cheaper and less wattage that the ones you're looking at.
