The gold comps atm, love their shape and personality, very relaxing to watch as they are not nuts.

My favourite are the cuckoo catfish, Synodontis multipunctatus. I've been breeding these guys for close to 10 years now and never get sick of them. Their looks, behaviour and the way they breed are all interesting. I still get excited every time I see a mouthful in the host colony wondering whether there will be any little cuckoos in there.

Cuckoo's are on my must have list for sure.

The only thing is the price, never been able to shell out the $$$ for them.

Is this because they are difficult to breed - needing host fish etc??

I think the unique breeding method is the reason for the price, they are not as commonly available in the numbers other africans are. They are quite expensive in lfs. I sell my fry at 5-6cm for $100.00 for 6 or $150.00 for 10.

Cheers, Doug

cuckoos today are about 15% of the price they were a decade ago.

you dont get massive batches of them AND you need to sacrifice a batch of africans to get them.

Still I am the same, always excited to see how many in a hosts mouthfuls.
